The Sewing Machine and Paper Strips

I see sewing on scrapbook layouts and cards all of the time and think that it looks so amazing. I confess though, I've been a bit scared to try it. Maybe it stems from my childhood growing up when I took those home ecomonic classes and deemed that "I was not a sewer" or maybe it just seemed like too much work for one page. Whatever the reason, I just never tried it. However, I recently decided to put aside my fears and give it a go. It ended up being quite easy, simple, and.....FUN!
I decided to create a border using strips fo paper. I cut strips fo paper 12 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. I used about 8 strips to create a photo frame for my 8 x 8 picture.
I began my folding the strips accordian style but more random and sewing it together using the sewing machine.

I recently was given the task of making a gift for another talented scrapbooker. At first, I was overwhelmed by the task. There were so many things I could make...how to narrow it down. But then the task became simple as soon as I narrowed it down by choosing two items that immediately made me feel inspired and creative.
