Finding Time to Scrapbook

I have had so many people ask me how I find the time to scrapbook. So, I thought I'd give all of you some insight into how I attempt to do that. Working full time, being a mother of 2, wife, and helping to run a farm keeps me rather busy. In fact, those things kept me so busy that 2 1/2 years ago, I swore I could not fit one more thing into my life. And then, I accidently stumbled across scrapbooking and became hooked, realizing quickly, that it was truly something missing in my life rather than something extra. I understood that scrapbooking was a form of therapy for me and also a way to reflect on and capture the little moments in my life that I sometimes watched fly by me at such a rapid rate. Scrapbooking helps me slow those memories down a bit and look at so much of my life with fresh, new eyes. Which brings me back to that important question of how I find the time. On average, I only spend about 1 hour a day (for myself; I've added some time to this hour since I decided to become a scrapbooking entrepreneur) scrapbooking and I've carved that hour out of my evenings or my mornings. Both of those time slots happen to when the kids are in bed. Prior to scrapbooking, I used to sit and watch TV for that hour and found that after I discovered scrapbooking, the TV had lost much of its appeal for me. So, I gave up the TV and then also began hosting and attending crops--multiple hour ones and day long ones. I found that hosting and attending crops every so often gave me the opportunity to really play with my stuff, get inspired, and accomplish quite a bit, and therefore, would keep my hour long scrapbooking moments meaninful and not frustrational. I can spend those hour long sessions finishing things started in crops, making smaller projects like cards or mini albums, organizing pictures or getting layouts planned and ready to be worked on. I suppose that I did not divulge any earth shattering information, but you really would be amazed at what you can fit into your life when you sit back and reevaluate what you want to spend your time on.

Back in Action and a "New Year's Resolution"

I'm going to have a moment of honesty.....For several months now, I have been out of touch with blogging. Several excuses and reasons come easily into my mind. The main one...I was having blogging overload and procrastination.

But having just went to Washington D.C. for my first ever Close to my Heart Convention, I am inspired and motivated and have a much clearer vision about what I want my role to be as a business entrepreneur, scrapbooker, and blogger.

Because Convention is in July and not January and I can imagine that each year (hoping that I will be able to attend each year) will mark the beginning of a new year for me.

My "new year's resolution" for my blog is to: Inspire Others to Want to Create, Teach Techniques, and Share a Small Piece of Who I am as a Scrapbooker and Business Entrepreneur!!

My blog will now contain new posts (often I promise) in each of the 3 areas on 3 brand new pages added into my blog: Techniques You Can't Live Without, Get Inspired, and My Life as a Scrapbooker and Entrepreneur

So, welcome to my new blog!
